The American Association of University Professors is a 100-year-old professional organization founded to articulate and defend the principles of tenure, academic freedom, and shared governance. The national AAUP advocates for faculty in many ways: by engaging with the media and the political process; by preparing and disseminating reports on major issues facing faculty; and by sharing resources, standards, and best practices with chapters across the nation. This article describes how an AAUP advocacy chapter can impact a campus: https://www.aaup.org/article/aaup-chapter-can-transform-your-campus#.X6aywpNKiEt
If you already know you would like to join our chapter, please join the national AAUP organization and they will enroll you. The membership fees are sliding-scale based on salary, and member benefits include access to webinars, policy documents, and a national network of faculty: https://www.aaup.org/membership/join . Once you have joined the national organization, please forward your membership confirmation email to our executive committee.
If you have questions about either the national AAUP or our Quinnipiac chapter, please feel free to reach out to a member of our executive committee!
